Ashland Community and Technical College has defined AI policies across 4 of 12 policy categories, covering Academic Integrity, Teaching & Learning. AI tools are generally permitted in coursework, subject to instructor guidelines. Students are required to disclose and attribute AI-generated content in their academic work. The university employs detection and enforcement mechanisms for unauthorized AI use.
Students may choose to use AI (ChatGPT for example) for assignments.
If they choose to do so, the use of AI, which product was used, and an explanation for how AI was utilized must be appropriately referenced with the student’s submitted work (see AI Use policy under VI).
12. AI Policy: Academic work submitted with outside resources and presented as original content is a form of Academic Dishonesty (cheating). Content generated by an Artificial Intelligence service or site (e.g. ChatGPT) without proper attribution or authorization is a form of plagiarism. Plagiarism is a matter of academic integrity.
This includes, but is not limited to, (1) all forms of plagiarism, such as copying or paraphrasing work from other sources without using proper citation; (2) turning in someone else’s paper, a tutor’s work, or previously submitted personal work (prior semesters or courses); (3) submitting work generated through the utilization of technological tools, such as AI Content Generators (e.g. ChatGPT) or applications (e.g. apps such as Mathway), without acknowledgment and/or citation of their use.
The student is expected to adhere to the KCTCS Code of Student Conduct concerning academic honesty (see ACTC Student Policies and Procedures). Confirmed cheating and plagiarism will result in failure of a nursing course and thereby dismissal from the nursing program. Instructors trust that all students will be honest when writing examinations and/or other assignments.
Cheating in any form violates KCTCS and ACTC Academic Integrity policies and offenders will be subject to Article IV Sanctions for Standards of Conduct Violations of the KCTCS Code of Student Conduct.

All work submitted should be a product of critical thinking and ideas, and written in your own voice, with all sources clearly acknowledged and cited, including technology-based sources.
The student is expected to adhere to the KCTCS Code of Student Conduct concerning academic honesty (see ACTC Student Policies and Procedures). Confirmed cheating and plagiarism will result in failure of a nursing course and thereby dismissal from the nursing program.
Anyone found violating this policy will automatically receive a grade of “E” for the course.
The Nursing Program Administrator and/or the Assistant Nursing Program Administrator must be notified IMMEDIATELY when cheating or plagiarism is suspected or discovered so that an immediate, thorough investigation of the situation can be conducted.
Cheating in any form violates KCTCS and ACTC Academic Integrity policies and offenders will be subject to Article IV Sanctions for Standards of Conduct Violations of the KCTCS Code of Student Conduct.
Knowing your institution's AI policy is step one. DocuMark helps enforce it fairly by empowering universities to manage AI-generated content, prevent cheating, and support student writing through responsible AI use.
Ashland Community and Technical College has defined AI policies in 4 of 12 categories, with an overall coverage score of 33%.
The nursing handbooks require students who use AI for assignments to disclose that use, name the product used, and explain how it was used in submitted work. They also require acknowledgment and citation of technology-based sources, and state that AI-generated content without proper attribution or authorization is plagiarism.
The nursing handbooks state that suspected cheating or plagiarism must be reported immediately to program administrators for investigation. Confirmed cheating and plagiarism result in failure of the nursing course and dismissal from the nursing program, and violators are also subject to sanctions under the KCTCS Code of Student Conduct. No AI detection tool is specified.
No explicit data protection or approved AI platform policy is currently defined in the available policy sources.
