2. Submitting as one’s own work that which was wholly or partially done by another; including the use of
artificial intelligence to complete assignments;
Individual professors reserve the right to assign, restrict, or forbid the use of AI on a given assignment in order to facilitate learning.
Cheating: Examples of cheating include (but are not limited to) the following:
1. Using unauthorized prepared materials (cheat sheets) for answering test questions;
2. Giving aid to another student during a test or quiz;
3. Compromising the integrity of test materials;
4. Gaining answers to test questions from others during testing periods;
Individual professors reserve the right to assign, restrict, or forbid the use of AI on a given assignment in order to facilitate learning.
Artificial intelligence (AI) can be a useful tool for gathering data or generating new ideas. AI can be used to brainstorm, outline, and review work. It can be used to generate art, music, as well as language-based tasks like writing structures and grammar. It can locate answers to many types of subject area questions by effectively searching countless web-based resources.
At OKWU we encourage ethical use of AI technology for the purposes of brainstorming, outlining, and review. We encourage students to consider carefully when and when not to use AI. Any work with AI should be done with caution and intentionality; students should be critical to evaluate work generated by AI to ensure correctness and accuracy as AI has been known to provide incorrect or flawed results.
OKWU requires that all AI use be acknowledged, credited, and cited to maintain academic integrity and demonstrate a God-honoring example of academic excellence.
It is a powerful research tool that is changing and advancing constantly.

All academic violations will be reported to the Academic Integrity Council (AIC). Each instance will be recorded within the students’ academic files for future documentation.
Procedure for violation reports:
1. The professor collects assignments and student data
2. The professor submits collected information to AIC.
3. AIC contacts students for additional information and context.
4. AIC reviews data and determines action:
a. Non-finding: No action. Insufficient or inconclusive data.
b. Violation I: Student receives a zero on related assignment. Student is required to take Academic Integrity Training at ACE.
c. Violation II: Student receives a failing grade for the course. Student is required to meet with his or her dean.
d. Violation III: Failing grade for the course. Student is suspended from future enrollment. (Option for appeal)
e. Violation IV: The student is permanently dismissed from OKWU. (No option for appeal.)
Any violation of the academic integrity policy, including but not limited to each instance of plagiarism, cheating, or disruptive unprofessionalism, will result in a consequence such as the required resubmission of an assignment, a grade deduction for a particular assignment, failure of an assignment, dismissal from the class session, suspension from the course, failure of the course, or expulsion from the University. Each violation of academic integrity will be reported to the Office of Academic Affairs.
